Alternate Ending Contest

So I was talking to a fan the other day online that brought up something interesting. “Collin,” he said. “Why don’t you write some alternative endings to The House of Grey? It could be really fun to see what other endings you had in your head.”

I thought about that but to be honest, I don’t think I had any other endings in my head. but then I thought, maybe you guys do. So here’s the deal.

 Introducing the Alternate Ending Contest.

Another update on the last episode

Just got off the phone with Collin. Despite his recent diagnosis of strep throat (hence why I was on the phone and not talking to him in person…it would be really bad if the voice talent lost his voice), he reports that he is about 75-80% done with the last chapter. Doing the math on his page count, that’s at least an hour plus of content…maybe more.  As things get closer to release check back here to get the final date and time.

We also want to do a Q&A after the book is done. If you didn’t know before now, the Forum has a board where we’ve been collecting some great questions about Collin, the book, future projects, and a ton of other stuff. Feel free to go add to anything you see there or come up with some new stuff. If we don’t pick it up in the Q&A, we promise to post a huge answer section on that board.

Anyway, that’s the 411 on the last episode. As always, catch Collin and I on facebook  and twitter for the latest updates.

Update on the last episode and some other stuff

Well if you caught Collin’s comment on facebook, he’s about 50% done with the last episode. It’s been 5 years in the making and trust me he wants it to be spectacular. While a good thing cannot be rushed, he’s putting it together as fast as he can.

In other news, Collin and I sat down and finalized the outline for the Secret Ninja Project. Preliminary work is starting to come together, so look for some announcements soon on what we’re crafting.

We finally got a site up for DarkFire Productions and have been in meetings with a number of authors talking about creating digital versions of their books. We”ll keep you posted on what shakes out.

Our DarkFire partner Nick is ramping up for the first release of his new online magazine about the publishing industry and all things related therein. There will some good stuff in there about the new iPad, new royalty rates from Amazon to indie authors, and much more. We’ll be sure to post that here when it comes out for your consumption.

Nick, Collin, and I are presenting at the April meeting of CIPA (Colorado Independent Publishers Association). They asked us last minute to host a roundtable discussion at their meeting last month. It started as a few people around one table, then grew to tons of people packed around three different tables with each of us talking about social media, blogs, and eBooks. Apparently we were such a hit that they asked us to present in April on those very topics. Once our presentation is all polished up, we’ll post it over on DarkFire so you can check it out.

That’s about it kids. Check facebook and twitter for more updates and news.

Just your everyday blog post

Collin and I have been feeling the pressure to finish up The House of Grey for some time now. And while that is well underway, I looked back and realized that we let this pressure get the best of us. The forum has been neglected and lately the blog only has updates on the next episode and the episodes themselves. Don’t get me wrong, I get that The House of Grey is a great story and we’re working on it as fast as we can, but at the same time it is just the beginning of something much larger that we want to share with everyone. So in light of this reinvigoration, here’s what’s going on outside The House of Grey that y’all can look forward to:

40 dropping on Podiobooks.com, iTunes, Zune

Ok, so we heard from a lot of you about the episode not being on iTunes and made an executive decision. The Finale of The House of Grey will be an epic 3 episode experience starting with episode 40 which I loaded tonight for Podiobooks.com to release. Look for it sometime tomorrow on iTunes. Parts 2 and 3 of the Finale will be released as episodes 41 and 42 respectively.  I committed Collin to finish up 2 and 3 before Christmas so any encouragement you want to send his way via Facebook, twitter, email, or by commenting feel free to do so.

Enjoy!

A peace offering to the fans

40 is huge. Like, the longest episode we will have ever released. I have the first hour or so of the episode ready to record. So here’s the plan…Collin is finishing up the chapter, but as I said I have the first hour of script ready to lay down. I’ll get that done today, and hopefully you guys will have the first part of the last episode sometime tomorrow or Wednesday.

As for the rest of the chapter, we’re working as fast as we can.  There’s a catch though…we’re only releasing this partial episode off the blog for right now. Haven’t decided if the Podiobooks.com feed will have these partial episodes, or if we’ll wait and combine them into one mega-episode (seriously we might be talking like 3 hours) so who knows. Check back here tomorrow and Wed to get the next update.

And just as a side note, this will never happen again with anything Collin and I produce. All the other stories that we entertain you with will be written and recorded in one big package so that you will have your fix on a consistant basis. Or for you instant gratification types, there will be a way to get the whole thing start to finish right when the book drops.

updates on 40, The Dreamer’s Thread, short story anthology…

So 40 is being honed as I type. Collin is wrapping up the story, crossing his I’s and dotting his T’s…or something like that. We’ll both be off at the end of the week so I can put the thumb screws to him and hopefully have this out too y’all very soon.

Our wonderfully talented friend and fellow author (who has a very alluring reading voice I might add) Starla Huchton just added her tale The Dreamer’s Thread to Podiobooks.com. If you haven’t started listening to the story from her feed, head over and grab it from Podiobooks.com. She is crazy talented, the book has a serious who’s-who cast of the podcast universe, and it is a wicked good story to boot.

Remember way back when, we asked all of our fans to drop us their short stories? Well, since we are close to the end of The House of Grey, I am piecing together all of the tales we will be featuring. This will be a side project from Collin’s normal writing and will feature a number of our fans that have put their own fantastic yarns down on paper. We’re working with another local artist for the music, but you can get a preview of her work by heading over to her site.

That’s it for now. Have a great Turkey Day!
